The Waterford Music & Cultural Society is a non-profit organization established in October 2011 to promote, improve, develop and maintain public education in and appreciation of the art and science of music. The Society shall also use the propagation of music appreciation as a vehicle for the development of positive values particularly among its younger members.
Mission statement
To stimulate the appreciation, performance, creation and study of music from all eras with emphasis on the development of the talents of young musicians and artistes in Barbados and the wider Caribbean
SOCIETY OBJECTIVES
The objective of the society is to provide its members with a large variety of performing opportunities to suit their standard, commitment and tastes. This is possible through the establishment of a programme of concerts throughout the year, several ensembles and social events, which allow like-minded musicians to meet in a friendly community.
We will facilitate the full artistic expression of young talented musicians and eventually become the center of musical excellence across the Caribbean.
Our goals include:
- Encouraging the study of music in all forms
- Providing a forum for education, knowledge transfer and the development of new skills and youth and professional development
- The sharing of local, regional and international experiences and lessons
- Promoting networking and business opportunity development
- To support the development of a professional music community
- To assist self-development of the youth
- To facilitate the meeting of diverse cultures in sharing and learning from each other in the quest for the dynamic exchange of experiences
The directors are committed to ensuring that the Society delivers strongly on each objective and that we set the bar even higher than internationally accepted standards
